Batchwood Hall Golf Club:
The history of Batchwood Hall Golf Club started in 1935 when St Albans City & District Council purchased the vast greenish land of Batchwood Hall. However, the Batchwood Golf Club was opened for public in 1936. It is situated adjacent to Batchwood Leisure Centre within the same vicinity.
The history of Batchwood Hall goes back to 1874 when Edmund Beckett (1st Baron Grimthorpe) had it built for himself specifically in the ‘Queen Anne Style’. During the first quarter of the 20th century (1935), St Albans council acquired the land to erect an 18-hole golf course.
