Shaw\u2019s corner was a residence of the famous prominent <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/George_Bernard_Shaw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">George Bernard Shaw<\/a> <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">who was a distinguished Irish playwright. The history of its institution is intriguing as George Bernard Shaw built the residence for his short stay to let the locals of London know that he really was away from the capital city. Initially, the locals thought to make it look like a parish but they soon realised that it was too large for it. In fact, the architects used local materials and bricks to distinguish its look from other houses. In 1906, George Bernard Shaw visited Welwyn Garden City and rented this newly-built house. Shaw liked the residence so much that he later bought the house as his permanent residence. Shaw was so obsessed with the house that he decorated it accordingly to his peace of mind and not attraction because he sought mental peace more than self-satisfaction. Shaw lived his remaining life at the house and died there in 1950.
