The club started its football career in 1881 unofficially, playing several matches within the Old Roman Stronghold. Unfortunately, the club met its demise in 1904 due to several odd reasons. However, upon four years of struggling the club managed to make a comeback in 1908, acquiring the name as St Albans City FC. During its initial stages, the club footballed in Spartan Leagues and Hertz County to build up their emerging name. But success did not reach the club’s pavement until in 1920 when St Albans City FC played in the Athenian League and won the championship twice in three years. St Albans City FC also won the Isthmian League in its first attempt which further led to two consecutive wins in the same decade. St Albans City FC remained a prominent member of the Isthmian League until 2003.

Rise & Shine:

Due to ultimate success in the Football, St Albans City FC made it to the big tournaments and leagues after consecutive wins in the 1920s. St Albans City FC struggled its way with wins and lost throughout following decades. In fact, the club reached so many semi-final games that it created an unwanted world record in 1970 to be the first club to have reached the semi-final so many times.
